I have a Brother 1500 Disney machine my husband bought me.

I am fascinated by the idea of creating my own designs.

But if I pay for the standard Brother package (PE Design) will it be of any real use in terms of producing a pattern that others can use if they have a Husqvarna or a Bernina or a Singer....

I am not particularly artistic or creative - is there a basic program I can play around with that does not cost a fortune (over $1,000) ?
