can anyone tell me how to create a .jan file in WILCOM
well it does create a file in .JET format for JENOME but when the file is saved as >JAN it gives an error CANNOT SAVE THE OBJECT IS THE SAID FORMAT.
SO please help in the regard ?

will a Janome machine run the FILE .JEF eqauly good as the FIle .JAN

I think you can run the JEF to have a try. JEF is one format for Janome machine.

how to save a file in JAN from wilcom ?

If you cant fin JAN in the "save as" drop down list you cant save it.
We use JEF for Janome machines and they work perfectly.

We do have Jan file in the drop down list
but it gives an error message before it saves a JAN file but its able to save that file
i m not sure if we lose some valuable date due to that error message

also i wanted to ask why does that stcich count of files created in another format chnages

e.g. a file made in WILCOM in file format JEF is saved with 12000 stitches but when its opened as a JEF file in another software or in a supported machine it just shows around 14000 stitches
so what is the stitch count the ? 12000 or 140000?

You might loose some new functions that you used in Wilcome and they may not be supported by JAN files.

About the difference in stitchcounts. Yes that does happen but i havent ever seen such a big difference as 12000 to 14000.
Normally when we save a wilcome EMB file to any other format there is a slight reduction in stitches due to the format of that design. The conversion enginge reads all stitches and functions and remove any unnessary information which leads to a slight reduction in stitches.

Always when I open a file it comes totally ungrouped, i.e. with much more objects than I made the design. It seems to be any configuration at Wilcom, but I did not found anything in the help files. Can anybody help me?

No thats not anyhting to worry about.
You will find that design be in hundreds of parts in wilcom when you open a DST or any other machine format file.

if you want to edit the file, please make sure you have the EMB (correct version). Opening the EMB file for that design will not open "totally ungrouped".

Question? I dont know if anyone can answer this but i'll ask anyway. I do a design in wilcom and I dont group anything. I send the file to another version of wilcom and do what I need to with it. I pull it back up off the server after I saved from the other version and everything is grouped. I didn't group anything. Is it a setting on the other version of wilcom that automaticaly groups stuff that I dont know about?
