digitizing????
I'm new to embroidery, and wanting to learn how to digitize. When I bought my babylock ellure, I also bought the palette 6.0, so it is capable of digitizing. When I use a clipart, I know that I need to "clean" it up before digitizing, but how do I do that? Is there anyone here that is willing to help me?
Thanks! |

Hey Scorpio!
Welcome to the Forum, im sure you will benefit from the experience members here. Babylocks need PES files to run desigs. The Palette 6.0 is certainly a good option with Babylock and is a good software to do basic to semi-advanced digitizing. Im sure you will learn good digitizing on it and then if you feel like to go advanced , buy a better software like Wilcom ES. I suggest you start off with basic designs like JUST keyboard lettering. Doing lettering will certainly help you learn the interface of the software and let you understand its various functions like setting height, width, density and underlay. Once you are familar with the basics, try doing some basic vector designs. NOW TO YOUR QUESTION: Cleaning up cliparts, its not a job at all if you have vectors. Cliparts mostly come as vectors, so saving them as good resolution JPEG's is the best way. Can you be a bit more specefic on what type of cliparts you have? Check the file extension and you will find what type it is.. Talker |

Thankyou Talker....
I'm having a hard time with the Palette, I guess it just takes a lot of getting used to. I heard that masterworks, is having an offer of trading in your old digitizing for the masterworks, and you'll get 1,000 trade in for it. but the Masterworks is 1800. I've also heard that it is a lot easier to work with. What do you think? What do you think is the best digitizing software out there?
The cliparts that I have is just from the internet, to try. Sometimes they are saved as jpg, but most of the time it doesn't give me that option, and will save as bmp. Is that what you are asking? On the designers gallery website, I downloaded a trial for masterworks, but there are so many options that I can't even figure that one out. I did do a few that did come out good. But like I said, there are just so many options on there, if I have the manual, I think I can figure it out. well, I guess I'll try working on it for a while, and see what I can come up with. Thanks again for your response. |

Scorpio,
New digitizing softwares always give you bit of a hard time. Although i havent used or seen masterworks, i can still tell you that getting used to masterworks will take some time and efforts as well. Its just because every software has different terms, different options, different way of functions etc. Do you mean that if you trade for your old digitizing software you get 1000 bucks off? , thats not a bad deal, but i think you should go through the knowledgebase/docs of the masterworks site before you do the switch. Try to grasp as much info of the software as you can from the internet and see if its better than what you have yourself. Please dont forget to post your results here as i myself am very keen to know about masterworks. About the cliparts, if you are saving from the internet, i must say they will be smaller in size and not too good for digitizing properly. You may need to clean up artwork for that, here is a post i replied earlier on this issue. http://www.digitizingtalk.com/digiti...g-artwork.html Let see what you have to say about masterworks? I downloaded a free trial of masterworks lastnight. I do have to say it is definately easier to work with. And yes, I will be getting 1,000 off of the price trading in my palette for the Masterworks, but I still have to pay 800. I think it's a good deal, but don't know if I'm ready to upgrade, or even qualified to. But if I wait, the offer of the trade in might not be there, and I'll have to pay 1800. I'll keep messing with the Masterworks and I'll go from there.
Thanks again for your help! |

Scorpio,
I see that the download page only has Updates. http://www.designersgallerysoftware....p?Update_ID=82 Anyway, i have set it to download and will check it once the download is completed. I have been using Wilcom ES version 9.0. I have always been a Wilcom fan since the begining. Its complex yet easy and gives outstanding results. i am familiar with its various functions including motifs and the great tatami patterns. I'll post back after i install the demo of Masterworks. How do you find playing with Masterworks? Talker |
